JB Blanc was born in France, raised in North Yorkshire and graduated from Sedbergh in 1987. He was the youngest person that year to win a coveted place at London’s Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), where he spent 3 years beginning to learn his craft. Since he has worked as an actor and director in all aspects of the entertainment business, including film, radio, theatre, television, video games, animation, voiceover and motion capture. His career began on the London Fringe where, along with recently appointed Artistic Director of The Royal National Theatre, Rufus Norris, he started a theatre company for actors who had recently graduated from accredited drama schools to provide a forum for the kind of experimentation and freedom of expression every young actor needs. The company enjoyed much success and acclaim and soon JB was working regularly in regional theatre around Britain. In 1997, he joined the Royal National Theatre and spent three very happy years in various productions with directors that included Howard Davies and Sir Peter Hall. After a brief sabbatical, JB was cast in Touchstone Pictures’ 2002 film, The Count Of Monte Cristo with Guy Pearce, Richard Harris and James Caviezel. On the back of critical acclaim for his role, he decided in 2002 to move to Los Angeles and pursue a career in film and television. Since then, JB has appeared in over 20 television series and several motion pictures, expanding his career to incorporate voiceover and the ever-growing world of video games. He is now one of the most prolific video game voice actors in the world, with close to 150 titles to his name and several animated series. As well as acting, he also directs the voices for many of the leading game companies including Warner Brothers, Activision and 2K Games. He continues to enjoy a busy and consistent career in television and film and still lives in Los Angeles, California with his daughter Malia and their loving Labrador, Apollo.
